Sarwan Lata Narayan

Hindu representative in the Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group (Australia)

Session Involved: Interfaith Dialogue

Sarwan migrated to Australia in June 1992. She is a qualified vocational guidance personnel, having completed a post graduate degree in Educational Counselling. She is a co-ordinator for Human Resources, Work Health & Safety and Quality Control for a small business enterprise and also a keen Aged-Care Worker.

Sarwan’s family proudly call her by a nickname- “ peoples’ person”. By religion Sarwan is a HINDU. She is a practising Hindu in ordinary fashion, not belonging to a pandit or of any class denomination. Sarwan is of Indian origin, born and bred in Fiji.

Sarwan is a great promoter of her religion- Hinduism. She does so by living with examples. She does not reject any offer of presenting herself to a gathering where religion is the topic for discussion. To achieve her aims of teaching & learning from each other she joined multi faith gatherings, at Pure Land Learning College in Toowoomba. Her husband apparently is a very staunch Christian and a preacher in his congregation.

Sarwan has attended most of the seminars & conferences locally and overseas which includes a conference in Shri Lanka in 2012 and inTaiwanin 2015. Currently she is the Hindu representative in the Toowoomba Interfaith Working Group.
